DROWNED IN INFINITE TEARS

Hi, my name is Renee, I'm 14, and I live in Arizona. The entire nation may think that Arizona is revolving around the fact that we won the World Series and made the Yankees "look bad"; that doesn't matter to me. I mean, I'm happy for the Diamondbacks, but does that mean we have to forget about the September 11th massacre? I have wrote a poem about the September 11th attacks, so I can stand for all of Arizona to say that We have not Forgotten.

By: Renee Gardner

We sit here, waiting, watching, wondering
What is to become of our nation
Our united nation, of which we stand proud and strong
Do we just wait while countless innocent victims slowly die?

Their tears can't be heard, but felt
They reach us, deep down in the pit of the heart
Where they know it hurts
Where they know we can feel for them, though they may be strangers to us
In a way, we've known them our whole lives

We wander aimlessly, feeling horrible knowing we're helpless
We can't do anything to help the US
They want us all to go on living like nothing happened

But something did happen
Thousands of Americans have gone unfairly, unjustly
They had lived September 11th like any other
How were they to know it would be their last?

We Americans will not go on living our lives this way
For our nations is forever changed
We are each individually forever changed

Whether we knew those victims or not
Our hearts are with them
And we can only imagine the pain and suffering they burdened
As they plummeted to their deaths by plane
By jumping from the world-famous twin towers
Or by burning a slow, painful death

Their tears reach out to us now
They cover our hearts and souls
And have created a new nation of Americans
Who shall not let this go without a fight
We will prevail loudly and proudly

Tears that washed away their concerns, problems
Now wash away their sins and send their souls to rest
They now shall rest in peace

And though every victim's body may not be found
Every single victim who died on September 11th, 2001
Will know how important they are
They will know just how loved they are
They will know how much they are worth
They will know that they are the Americans that we will never forget

We will never forget how these murderers attacked and destroyed our fellow Americans
We will never forget their cruel, disgusting intentions

We will never forget how cowardly they are
We will never forget September 11th, 2001
The day we were reminded of the massacre of Pearl Harbor
The day we realized that this wasn't fiction, but reality
The day we realized how vulnerable our Nation had actually been
The day we were all
Drowned in infinite tears.
