September 11-2001
By: Else Chubinski
As tears course down my face I write
Of waste - of hate - of wantonness
Where is it written did I ask
That killing innocents is right
What angry God dictates the rules
That makes such murder justified
The sight of chaos - panic - fear
Of heroes risking life and limb
Strangers comforting strangers
It makes me proud - though I am grieved
We'll overcome-we are the people
The people of America who made this land
We'll stand together-so much sadder
And perhaps also wiser
Look in the dirt and rubble
Where once so many thousands bled
A humble weed has reared it's head
Like hope ascending
Like countless others I was overcome with shock and outrage and a terrible grief for both the victims and their families. May we all continue to stand together and see an ending to this barbaric time in modern history.
