The tears have fallen from the people’s eyes,

And they’ll continue to fall as days go on.

The people are saddened and shocked today,

Not one, but the whole broken nation.

What are we going to do?

Our country is in a horrific panic.

But what can we do these days

With a world gone out of control?

There seems to be no compassion

As I watch numerous TV shows today;

Tears and pain are the only thing I see

The people seem so helpless and not sure what to do.

Sadness and hurting is all that I see

As I watch the people in disbelief.

Isn’t this America, symbol of freedom?

Isn’t this the place of refuge for many out there?

Is our great country going to fall apart?

At the acts of violence that we’ve seen,

Is there nothing left in our people’s hearts?

Are we down and out for the count?

No, this is America, and we’ll stay together

Learn to move on like numerous times before.

We’re getting stronger and gaining unity,

We’ll pass what this horrible test has done to us

Because this is America, home of the free.

We’ll stay together and look down on this terrorism

Because no matter what they try to do to us,

God will continue to give us the strength to go on.
